Hugh Farley (b. November 26, 1932) is a Republican member of the New York State Senate, representing District 49 since 2013. He previously represented District 44 from 2007 to 2013. Farley was Council Member/Majority Leader for the Town of Niskayuna from 1970 to 1976. He joined the New York State Senate in 1977 and has served in that position since. He was Majority Conference Secretary from 1993 to 1994. In 1995 he was Senate Majority Whip as well.

Farley has worked as an Attorney, Author, and High School Teacher. He also served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1955. He was a Full Professor/Law Area Coordinator for the School of Business of the University at Albany from 1965 to 2000.

Farley earned his AS from Mohawk Valley Community College. He went on to receive his BS from the State University of New York at Albany. He then earned his JD from American University School of Law.

Farley ran in the 2012 election for New York State Senate District 49. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on September 13, 2012; he also ran on the Conservative Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. Farley defeated Madelyn C. Thorne (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]
