Huron Township Fire & Police Levy Addition (August 2012)
This measure sought to add to the current township levy by a rate of $2.36 per $1,000 of assessed value for a period of ten years in order to further pay for a special assessment district which would pay for fire, police and emergency operational and maintenance costs in the township.

The question on the ballot:
|Shall Huron Charter Township establish a special assessment district, consisting of all lands within the Township, for the purpose of providing funds for police and fire protection and emergency medical response, including the funding of operations and purchase and maintenance of equipment? Pursuant to Act 33 of the Michigan Public Acts of 1951, the estimated expense for the fire and police departments, and the amount to be assessed, shall be determined by the Township Board annually after a public hearing, but it shall not exceed 10 mills. If approved, the first year of the special assessment is estimated to be 2.368 mills, equal to $2.368 per $1,000 of taxable value of real property, and would raise approximately $937,200.|
