The 12th congressional district of Illinois will hold an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 6, 2012.
This is the 12th congressional district prior to the 2010 redistricting.

Candidates wishing to run were required to file by the signature filing deadline of December 27, 2011. The primary elections will be held on March 20, 2012.

Heading into the election the incumbent is Jerry F. Costello (D), who was first elected in 1988. Costello will retire rather than run for re-election.[1]

On November 2, 2010, Jerry F. Costello won re-election to the United States House of Representatives. He defeated Teri Newman (R) and Rodger Jennings (G) in the general election.[9]
