The 12th congressional district of Illinois will hold an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 6, 2012.
This is the 12th congressional district prior to the 2010 redistricting.

Candidates wishing to run were required to file by the signature filing deadline of December 27, 2011. The primary elections will be held on March 20, 2012.

Heading into the election the incumbent is Jerry F. Costello (D), who was first elected in 1988. Costello will retire rather than run for re-election.[1]

  • Brad Harriman: Former St. Clair County Regional Superintendent of Schools [2]
  • Chris Miller: Illinois political director of the Truman National Security Project and U.S. Army veteran of the Iraq War[3]
  • Kenneth Wiezer: Retired carpenter [4]

Republican Party Republican Primary

Note:Teri Newman was removed from the official candidate list on February 2, 2012.[8]

On November 2, 2010, Jerry F. Costello won re-election to the United States House of Representatives. He defeated Teri Newman (R) and Rodger Jennings (G) in the general election.[9]
