Applications available for 107th Indiana Supreme Court Justice

Indianapolis, Indiana: Applications for the position of 107th Indiana Supreme Court justice are now being accepted. Applications became available on December 19, 2011 and are due by January 27, 2012.[1][2] The new justice will fill the spot on the five-justice court left open by Chief Justice Randall Shepard, who announced his retirement on December 7, 2011.

Applicants must have been members of the Indiana State Bar for ten years, or a judge for five years. Candidates must also be Indiana residents; yearly salary for the position is $156,295.[1][2] Governor Mitch Daniels will select the 107th justice. Following Governor Daniels selection, the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission will select the next Chief Justice some time after March 4, 2012; an exact timetable has not been set.[1]
