The Indiana Auditor of State is an elected state executive position in the Indiana state government. The auditor serves as the chief financial officer of the government of Indiana.[1]

Current Officeholder

The current interim officeholder is Erin Sheridan. She is serving in place of Dwayne Sawyer (R), who resigned from office, effective December 15. On January 2, 2014, Sawyer's appointed successor, state Rep. Suzanne Crouch, will officially take over as state auditor.[2][3][4][5][6] Sawyer was appointed in July 2013 to replace resigned auditor Tim Berry. He was expected to serve the remainder of Berry's term, expiring in January 2015. Furthermore, before tapping Sawyer for the post, Pence said that he was looking for someone who would run for a full term in 2014.[7][5] [7] Sawyer cited family reasons in his letter of resignation.
