Ira Silverstein is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate. He has represented District 8 since 1999 and currently serves as a Majority Whip. Silverstein was re-elected in November of 2006 with his term expiring in 2010.

Silverstein graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in 1982 from Loyola-Chicago and graduated with his law degree from John Marshall-Chicago in 1985.

In addition to being a full-time Senator, Silverstein is a practicing Attorney.
