Jack Heidel was a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 2nd Congressional District of Nebraska. He was defeated by incumbent Lee Terry in the May 15, 2012 primary. [1]

Heidel was born in 1939 in Cedar Rapids and obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Iowa. Before he started his teaching career, he was an insurance agent and apartment manager in Des Moines from 1977 through 1984. He has now been teaching over 40 years and has been the chair of the University of Nebraska-Omaha Math Department for 12 years. He was elected member of the Knoxville, Tennessee School Board from 1975 through 1977, and he has been member of the Learning Community Coordinating Council since 2010.[2]

Heidel ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Nebraska's 2nd District. He was seeking the nomination on the Republican ticket, but he was defeated by incumbent Lee Terry in the May 15, 2012 primary. [3]
