James Brochin (b. February 22, 1964) is a Democratic member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 42. He was first elected to the chamber in 2002.


Brochin earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1986 and his M.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1990. His professional experience includes working as a Legislative Analyst for the Maryland Senate President, Lobbyist in Baltimore County, Political Science Instructor at Catonsville Campus of the Community College of Baltimore County, Senior Political Writer for Baltimore Magazine, and Professor at Towson University.
