James Frishe was a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 54th District from 1984-90 and again from 2006 to 2012.

Frishe was Chair of the Pinellas County Delegation from 1988-1989. He is currently a member of the Pinellas Emergency Mental Health Services, and Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee.[1]

Issue

Frishe did not provide answers to the Florida State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test. The test provides voters with how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[2]

Frishe's sponsored legislation includes:

  • HB 541 - "Parental Responsibility and Time-Sharing: Revises provisions relating to child support, parenting plans, & time-sharing; revises elements of rebuttable presumption that parent is detriment if he or she is convicted of crime involving domestic violence"
  • HB 831 - "Community Associations: Provides & revises condominium association insurance requirements"
  • HB 1271 - "Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission: Requires applications for all recreational activity licenses to include provision for license applicant to make voluntary contribution to Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc."

Frishe ran in the 2012 election for Florida State Senate District 22. Frishe was defeated by Jeff Brandes in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012.[3]

Frishe ran for re-election to the 54th District seat in 2010. He did not face any opposition in the August 24 primary. Frishe defeated Mary Russell in the general election on November 2, 2010.[4]

On November 4, 2008, Frishe won re-election to the Florida House of Representatives from Florida's 54th District, defeating George Gonzalez (D). Frishe received 38,091 votes in the election while Gonzalez received 29,158 votes.[5] Frishe raised $201,989 for his campaign; Gonzalez raised $52,300.[6]
