James Hayes was a Republican member of the New York State Assembly. He represented District 148 from 1999-2011. Hayes was also minority whip for the New York State Assembly. His other political experiences include being a member of the Amherst Town Board; deputy mayor and trustee for the Village of Williamsville. He resigned in 2011 to accept a private sector job.[1]

Hayes is a fundraising marketing consultant. His other professional experiences include director of development for Catholic Charities of Buffalo; campaign finance director and legislative assistant for former US Representative Bill Paxon; alumni relations director and admissions counselor for Canisius College.

Hayes earned a B.A. in political science from Canisus College. He and his wife, Renee, have three children.[2]

On November 4, 2008 Hayes won re-election to the New York State Assembly, District 148, defeating opponents Jerome Schad (D) and Paul Brown (WF).
