An effort to recall Mayor Jamie Irons in Morro Bay, California from his position was launched in late 2013. The recall committee, Morro Bay Forward, failed to gather the number of signatures required to trigger a recall election. Recall supporters took issue with Irons' efforts to remove City Manager Andrew Lueker and City Attorney Rob Schultz from their positions, as well as the mayor's support for the relocation of a sewer plant.[1]

The deadline to file the recall petition with Morro Baby's city clerk was January 16, 2014. Recall proponents gathered roughly 1,600 signatures, below the 1,754 signatures required to trigger a recall election.[1]

Irons plans to seek re-election in 2014. Morro Bay Forward secretary Bill Pierce said that he was unsure whether the group would campaign against the mayor, but noted that the committee was "still there."[1]
