Biography

Nelson graduated with a B.S. in education from The University of North Texas in 1972 and also did post-graduate work at Southern Methodist University from 1973 to 1975.

In addition to being a senator, Nelson was a community education instructor from 1980 to 1989 and also served as teacher from 1973 to 1978. Prior to her position in the state senate, she was also on the State Board of Education from 1988 to 1992.[1]
