Jason Plummer is a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 12th Congressional District of Illinois. Plummer is a Republican leader and business executive, who was his party's nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Illinois in 2010. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Madison County Republican Party. He is currently the Vice President for Corporate Development for R.P. Lumber, a family-owned company.

Plummer is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. While a student, he started a wireless internet company, to provide broadband access to rural communities in downstate Illinois. He has interned for U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald and for the Heritage Foundation, in Washington, D.C., and is presently an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

In the February 2, 2010 primary for Lieutenant Governor, Plummer finished first among six candidates, narrowly ahead of State Senator Matt Murphy. In the general election, he will run on a ticket with State Senator Bill Brady.

The IL GOP team for Governor and Lieutenant Governor faced Democratic gubernatorial nominee Pat Quinn and his running mate (who will be appointed by the Illinois Democratic Party, as the winner of that Lt. Governor primary has withdrawn. [1]) Schorsch, Kristen in the election to be held November 2, 2010.

Personal

Plummer is a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville where, in his spare time, he coaches youth sports.
