Website Campaign website

Jason Plummer is a Republican leader and business executive, who is currently his party's nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Illinois. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Madison County Republican Party. He is currently the Vice President for Corporate Development for R.P. Lumber, a family-owned company.

Plummer is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. While a student, he started a wireless internet company, to provide broadband access to rural communities in downstate Illinois. He has worked for U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald and for the Heritage Foundation, in Washington, D.C., and is presently an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

In the February 2, 2010 primary for Lieutenant Governor, Plummer finished first among six candidates, narrowly ahead of State Senator Matt Murphy. In the general election, he will run on a ticket with the Republican gubernatorial nominee. The winner of that spot has not been officially determined, due to the closeness of the vote, but will be either State Senator Bill Brady or State Senator Kirk Dillard.

The IL GOP team for Governor and Lieutenant Governor will face Democratic gubernatorial nominee Pat Quinn and his running mate (who will be appointed by the Illinois Democratic Party, as the winner of that Lt. Governor primary has withdrawn[1]) in the election to be held November 2, 2010.

Personal

Plummer is a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville where, in his spare time, he coaches youth sports.
