Tibshraeny's political experience began with his work as the Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of Chandler in 1980.  He served in this position until 1986 when he became a council member for the City of Chandler.  In 1990, Tibshraeny became Vice Mayor for the City of Chandler.  He served as Vice Mayor until 1994.  Tibshraeny was elected Mayor of the City of Chandler in 1994 and served as mayor until 2002.  He went on to become a senator in 2003.  He currently represents the 21st District and is the Senate Majority Whip for the Arizona State Senate.
