Jean M. Hunhoff (b. December 30, 1953) has been a Republican member of the South Dakota State Senate since 2006, representing the 18th district.

Hunhoff's political experience began with her work as Commissioner for the City of Yankton from 1991 to 1997. She served as the mayor for the City of Yankton from 1995 to 1997. She went on to serve in the South Dakota State House from 2000 to 2006. In 2007 she joined the South Dakota State Senate and has served in that position since. She represents the 18th district.

Hunhoff worked as a registered nurse for Sioux Valley Hospital from 1976 to 1977. She worked as a health educator for Sandhills Visiting Nurses Association from 1979 to 1980. She then worked as Assistant Clinical Director of Nursing for Avera Sacred Heart Hospital from 1980 to 1982. She has worked as Homecare Mentor/Homecare Services Director for Avera Sacred Heart Hospital since 1982. She has also worked as Corporate Quality/Compliance Officer since 1987.

Hunhoff earned her BSN from South Dakota State University in 1976. She went on to receive her MSN from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1978. She then earned her MHA from the University of Minnesota in 1991.

Hunhoff won re-election in the 2012 election to District 18. Hunhoff ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 5 and defeated David L. Allen (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1]
