Eldridge earned his BA in Education/Counseling from Marshall University. He went on to receive his MA in Counseling and his LSW in Social Work from Marshall University.
Eldridge was a candidate for the West Virginia State House of Delegates in 2002 but was not elected. He was elected to the House in 2004 and has served in that position since. He represents the 19th District.
In 2008 Eldridge was re-elected to the West Virginia House District 19. Eldridge(D) finished with 13,511 votes. He finished behind Greg Butcher (D) who had 16,828 votes and Josh Stowers (D) with 13,846 votes. Eldridge was in front of Ralph Rodighiero (D) who had 13,381 votes. Eldridge raised $26,492 for his campaign fund.
