Jeffrey Klein (b. July 10, 1960) is a Democratic member of the New York State Senate. Klein was a member of the New York State Committee from 1988 to 1990. He then served in the New York State Assembly from 1994 to 2004. He then joined the New York State Senate in 2005 and has served in that position since. He was Senate Deputy Minority Leader from 2007 to 2008. He has also served as Democratic District Leader since 1990. He is currently the Deputy Majority Leader for Legislative Operations, representing the 34th district.

Klein worked in Lead Paint Litigation for Trolman & Glaser Firm. He was then Chief of Staff/Executive Assistant for Congressman James Scheuer from 1985 to 1988. He worked as District Administrator from 1988 to 1992. He is currently Partner for Klein Calderoni & Santucci, Limited Liability Partnership.

Klein earned his BA from Queens College in 1983. He went on to receive his MPA from the School of International and Public Affairs from Columbia University in 1985. He then earned his JD from the City University of New York Law School in 1993.

Klein ran in the 2012 election for New York State Senate District 34. He ran unopposed in the Democratic and Republican primaries on September 13, 2012, as well as on the Working Families Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. Klein defeated Elizabeth Perri (C) and Carl Lundgren (G) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]



Klein ran in the 2010 election for New York State Senate District 34. He was unopposed in the Democratic primary. He defeated Frank Vernuccio (R) in the general election.[4] He ran as a member of the Democratic, Independence, and Working Families party.
