Political career

Alabama Public Service Commission (2012-Present)

Oden was appointed by Gov. Robert Bentley on November 30, 2012.[4]

Alabama House of Representatives (1998-2012)

Oden was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 1998 to November 2012, when he was appointed to the Public Service Commission.[4]

Oden was appointed by Gov. Robert Bentley to the Alabama Public Service Commission on November 30, 2012 and assumed office on December 3, 2012.[4] Oden's appointment to the PSC required him to resign his seat in the State House. Bentley called a special election to fill the vacancy.

The other two current commissioners are Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh (President) and Terry Dunn (R). Both were elected in 2010. Former commission President Lucy Baxley (D) was ousted in the 2012 general election by Cavanaugh, whom Baxley had originally defeated for the position in 2008. After losing to Cavanaugh, Baxley retired from politics, and Gov. Bentley appointed Oden as her replacement.[5]
