Petitions to recall Galloway were turned in on January 17, 2012 to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board. Following GAB's decision that enough signatures were valid, a recall election was scheduled. Soon after, Galloway resigned her senate seat effective March 17. The recall, however, had to continue and Petrowski stepped in for Republicans.[5]
