Issues

Automobile Inspections

Tillman spoke against a bill to exempt cars four years old or younger from mandatory automobile inspections, required in North Carolina since 1966. He argued that the exemption would hurt the 7,500 businesses which perform the inspections and rely on the inspection fees for income. The House/Senate Joint Transportation Oversight Committee defeated the bill 7-5. The John Locke Foundation identified the continuation of mandatory automobile inspection as an example of "cronyism."[1]
