Political Experience
Jim Thompson served as a member on the Monmouth City Council before becoming a primary candidate for the Oregon House of Representatives, District 23 in 2004. In March, 2004, Thompson was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Lane Shetterly. He did not serve as a representative again until 2009 and has since continued to serve in that regard.

Thompson won re-election to the 23rd District Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition but was challenged by Wesley West in the general election which took place on November 2, 2010.[3]
