Jim Tucker is a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He has represented the 86th District since 2001, and currently serves as Speaker of the House.

Tucker is an investment banker and real estate developer.

He is Chairman of the Louisiana Republican Legislative Delegation, and a member of the Jefferson Parish Legislative Delegation and the Orleans Delegation.[1]

In May 2011, Governing Magazine named Tucker one of 17 "GOP Legislators to Watch." Each of the legislators was selected on the basis of qualities like leadership, ambition, and political potential.[2]

Tucker announced on August 8, 2011 that he would run for Louisiana Secretary of State in the 2011 Louisiana statewide elections.[3] Tucker will face Republican incumbent Tom Schedler, his GOP state House colleague Walker Hines, and Democrat attorney Caroline Fayard in the October 22 primary.

2007

In 2007, Tucker was re-elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives. He ran unopposed.[4]
