Davidson ran in the special election for Mississippi House of Representatives District 36. The seat was vacant following David Gibbs's death on January 13. Davidson faces Jeannie Johnson Staten, Eddie Longstreet, Karl Gibbs, Bobbie C. Davis, and Roderick Van Daniel in the special election which takes place on March 12, 2013.
Davidson ran in the 2011 election for Mississippi House of Representatives District 36. He lost to incumbent David Gibbs in the primary on August 2, 2011. No Republican candidates filed to run for election. The general election took place on November 8, 2011.
