Jimmy Farris is a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 16A of the Idaho House of Representatives. He previously sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Idaho in 2012.

Career

Farris worked as a wide receiver for several seasons with the San Francisco 49er’s, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons and the Washington Redskins.[1] He was a member of the 2001 New England Patriots Super Bowl Championship team.[1]

Farris also founded the non-profit The Jimmy Farris Future Leaders Foundation, which helps to equipping and developing young leaders with the skills necessary to excel academically, spiritually, socially and athletically.[1]

Elections for the office of Idaho House of Representatives will take place in 2014. A primary election took place May 20, 2014. The general election will take place on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 14, 2014. John McCrostie defeated Jimmy Farris and Jeff Stephenson in the Democratic primary, while Rosann Wiltse was unopposed in the Republican primary. McCrostie will face Wiltse in the general election.[2][3]

Farris ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Idaho's 1st District. Farris won the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[4] Farris defeated Cynthia Clinkingbeard in the Democratic primary. He faced Pro-Life (I), incumbent Raul Labrador (R) and Rob Oates (L) in the general election on November 6, 2012, and was defeated by Labrador.[5]
