Joe M. Silk was a Republican candidate in the February 14, 2012 special election for the Oklahoma House of Representatives, District 1. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Rusty Farley (R) passed away on July 4, 2011.[1]

Silk was defeated by Curtis McDaniel (D) in the special election on February 14, 2012. Bethany Farley (I) and James Skipper (I) also ran. McDaniel garnered 61.8% of the vote. Both major party candidates won contested primaries on November 8, 2011. [2][3][4]
