Joe Rooney was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 13th Congressional District of Pennsylvania.[1]

He was defeated by incumbent Allyson Schwartz in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2]

Rooney ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Pennsylvania's 13th District. Rooney was uncontested in the April 24, 2012, Republican primary and faced incumbent Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]

The Washington Post listed the House of Representatives elections in Pennsylvania in 2012 as 1 of the 10 states that could determine whether Democrats would retake the House or Republicans would hold their majority in 2013.[4] Ohio tied with Pennsylvania for 9th on the list.[4]

Personal

Rooney and his wife Beth have five children - Sierra, Orion, Journey, Sonora, and Forte. The Rooneys spent five years sailing 15,000 miles from the Delaware to Malaysia. For two of those years, they lived in Indonesia and Malaysia.
