Joe Stegner was a Republican member of the Idaho State Senate from 1998-2011, representing the 7th district. Stenger was re-elected in November of 2010 with his term expiring in 2012, but he resigned November 30, 2011 to become chief lobbyist for the University of Idaho.[1] He was serving as the Assistant Senate Majority Leader of the Idaho State Senate when he resigned.

Stenger earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho. He works as a property manager and was the former owner of Stegner Grain & Seed Company from 1972 to 1995.

Stenger is currently the Assistant Majority Leader for the Idaho Senate.
