Joey Hensley (b. July 28, 1955) is a Republican member of the Tennessee State Senate, representing the 28th District. He was first elected to the chamber in 2012.

Hensley served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 2003 to 2012.

Biography

Hensley earned his AS from Columbia State Community College. He went on to receive his B.S. from the University of Memphis. He then earned his MD from the University of Tennessee-Memphis College of Medicine. He is a physician and serves as the Lewis County Medical Examiner.

Hensley won election in the 2012 election for Tennessee State Senate District 28. Hensley defeated Dean Dickey in the August 2 Republican primary and defeated Tyler Cobb (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]

Hensley ran for re-election to the 70th District Seat in 2010. He was unopposed in the August 5 primary.[3] He defeated Democrat Calvin Moore in the general election on November 2, 2010.[4]
