John Carson is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives, representing District 46 since 2013. Carson represented the 43rd District from 2011 to 2013.

Carson was first elected in the September 20 special election for the District 43. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Bobby Franklin (R) passed away in late-July 2011.[1]

Carson attended Georgia State University, graduating in 1994 with a BBA in Accounting. In 1998, he graduated from Kennesaw State University with an MBA in Finance.[2]

Carson works in Banking and Commercial real estate finance.[2]

Carson ran in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 46. Carson defeated Martin L. Hawley in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. Kevin Westphal ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.[3] The general election took place on November 6, 2012. [4][5] Carson defeated Westphal in the general election.[6]

Carson defeated Robert Lamutt (R) in the October 18, 2011 special election run-off by a 1,250-668 margin. Carson and Lamutt were the top two vote-getters in the September 20 open primary, defeating Geraldine Wade (R), Don Hill (R), and Roy Barnes (R).[7][8]
