Landon ran in the 2012 election for Iowa House of Representatives District 37. Landon ran against Matt DeVries, Jacob Mason, Jim Robidoux, Stacey C. Rogers, and Jeffery A. Wright in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. Neal E. Tracy ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Jim Robidoux came the closest to the 35 percent threshold needed to advance, receiving 34% of the vote in the primary. Landon won the nomination at a state convention. He defeated N. John Boehm in the general election on November 6, 2012.
