John McBurney (b. December 8, 1950) was a Democratic member of the Rhode Island State Senate. McBurney joined the Rhode Island State Senate in 1974. He served in that position until 2010, representing the 15th District.

McBurney is an attorney as well as president of McBurney Law Services, Incorporated.

McBurney earned his BA from the University of Rhode Island in 1972. He went on to receive his J.D. from Suffolk University in 1977.

McBurney ran for re-election in District 15. He faced Donna Nesselbush in the September 14 Democratic primary, and the eventual Democratic nominee faced independent Marc Doughty in the November 2 general election.


On November 4, 2008, McBurney was re-elected to the 15th District Seat in the Rhode Island State Senate. McBurney had no challenger. [1]
