John Mitchell, Jr. is a Democratic member of the Delaware House of Representatives, representing the 13th District since 2006.

Mitchell is Chief of Public Safety at Delaware Technical and Community College, and a retired Sergeant with the New Castle County Police Force.

He is a member of the Delaware Association of Police, Delaware College and University Public Safety Association, Elsmere Fire Company, International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, National Rifle Association, New Castle County Development Council for Delaware Technical and Community College, New Castle County Police Alumni Association, and Saint Thomas the Apostle Church.   • HB 108 - "penalties for failure to appear at trial ought to be sufficient to encourage the defendant to appear as required."
  • HB 226 - "increases the penalties for carrying a concealed deadly weapon, when the weapon is a firearm, by reclassifying what is currently a class G felony as a class D violent felony."
  • HB 269 - "requires a person engaged in the sale or distribution of tobacco products to demand proof of age from a prospective purchaser or recipient of such products who is under the age of 27 years."

Mitchell won re-election to the 13th District Seat in 2010. He had no opposition in the primary. Mitchell defeated Jeffrey Brown (Blue Enigma Party) in the November 2, 2010 general election.[3]

On November 4, 2008, Mitchell won re-election to the Delaware House of Representatives from Delaware's 13th District.
