Personal life

Pinto is a Najavo, making him one of the first Native Americans to serve in the New Mexico legislature; in his legislative life, he became known for his annual performance of the Navajo 'potato song' at the conclusion of each session. He was trained by the Marines as a code talker during World War II. [6]
