John Sweeney was a 2012 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 2nd Congressional District of Oregon.[1]

Sweeney ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Oregon's 2nd District. Sweeney was defeated in seeking the nomination on the Democratic ticket. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was March 6, 2012. Sweeney was defeated by Joyce Segers in the Democratic primary to unseat incumbent Rep. Greg Walden (R).[2]

2010

In 2010, Sweeney ran in the primary for the Democratic nomination against incumbent Rep. Earl Blumenauer. Sweeney lost the primary, however, with about 8 percent of the vote.[3]
