Jonathan "Jon" Courtney is a Republican member of the Maine State Senate. Courtney is a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 1st Congressional District of Maine. He has represented District 3 since 2004 and currently serves as the Majority Leader. Courtney was re-elected in November of 2008 with his term expiring in 2012. Courtney served one term in the Maine House of Representatives from 2002 to 2004.

Courtney narrowly defeated challenger Patrick Calder in the Republican primary on June 12, 2012.[1]


Courtney is the owner of a cleaning business in addition to being a State senator.

Courtney is not running for re-election to the Maine State Senate in 2012. Instead, he is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Maine's 1st District. Courtney won the nomination on the Republican ticket. Incumbent Chellie Pingree ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Courtney defeated Patrick Calder in the Republican primary.[4] The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was March 15, 2012. The primary elections were held on June 12, 2012.

Courtney won re-election to the 3rd District Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. Robert Stackpole ran for the seat on the Democratic ticket. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[5]
