Josh Earnest (b. in Kansas City, Missouri) is the current White House Press Secretary. He was appointed by President Barack Obama on May 30, 2014, following the resignation of Jay Carney.[1]

Earnest previously served as Obama's communications director in Iowa during his first presidential bid.[2]

Biography

Earnest was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Rice University with a degree in political science and policy studies.[2] He previously worked on campaigns for Houston, Texas, Mayor Lee Brown, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and he was the spokesperson for the Democratic National Committee.[3]

Personal

Earnest is married to his wife Natalie, who works in the U.S. Department of the Treasury.[3]
