Julia Boseman is a Democratic member of the North Carolina State Senate, representing District 9. She was the first openly gay person elected to the General Assembly in North Carolina. [1]

Boseman was Commissioner for the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners from 2000 to 2004. She joined the North Carolina State Senate in 2005. She has served in that position since, representing the 9th district.

Background

Boseman earned her BS in Finance from the University of North Carolina - Wilmington in 1989. She then received her JD from North Carolina Central University in 1992. (citation?)
