Two Juniata Township Road Levy Renewal measures are on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Juniata, which is in Tuscola County.

The first measure seeks to renew the current road levy which is set at a rate of $1 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for road improvement and maintenance costs in the township.

The second measure seeks to renew the other current road levy which is set at a rate of $2 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for road improvement and maintenance costs in the township.[1]

Question 1: Shall the expired previous voted increases in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Juniata Township, of 1.0000 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 1.0000 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at and increased up to the original voted 1.0000 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for four (4) years, 2013 through 2016 inclusive, for the sole and exclusive purpose of the improvement and maintenance of roads within Juniata Township raising an estimated $45,045 in the first year the millage is levied?

Question 2: Shall the expired previous voted increases in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Juniata Township, of 2.0000 mill ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 1.0000 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at and increased up to the original voted 1.0000 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for four (4) years, 2013 through 2016 inclusive, for the sole and exclusive purpose of the improvement and maintenance of roads within Juniata Township raising an estimated $90,090 in the first year the millage is levied?
