Karen McConnaughay is a 2012 Republican candidate for District 33 of the Illinois State Senate.

McConnaughay serves as Chairman of the Kane County Board. She was first elected to this position in 2004, with her current term expiring on November 30, 2012.[1]

McConnaughay is running in the 2012 election for Illinois State Senate District 33. McConnaughay defeated Cliff Surges in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012. Incumbent Dan Kotowski is not running for re-election in District 33 but is instead running for election in District 28. McConnaughay is unopposed in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3][4]

Personal

McConnaughay moved to the Fox Valley in 1979. She has three children and currently lives in St. Charles with her husband, John.[5]
