Karim Camara is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly. He has represented District 43 since winning a special election in 2005.

Camara's professional experiences include congressional intern for United States Representative Major Owens; director of institutional advancement for Cush Campus Schools; as an employee of the American Red Cross of Greater New York, Emergency Family Center; student intern, assistant pastor, and executive pastor of First Baptist Church of Crown Heights.

Camara attended Wesley Theological Seminary, Fordham University, and Alfred University. He earned a BA in english literature and chemistry from Xavier University and a MDiv from New York Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Orelia, have one child.[1]
