Kathy Szeliga (b. Oct. 10, 1961) is a Republican member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 7. She was first elected to the chamber in 2011. Szeliga began serving as Minority Whip following an April 30, 2013 closed-door vote that saw the ouster of Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio.[1]

Biography

Szeliga earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Towson University in 1994. Her professional experience includes working as a teacher and a small business owner.

Elections for the office of Maryland House of Delegates will take place in 2014. A primary election took place June 24, 2014. The general election will be held on November 4, 2014. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Bob Bowie, Jr., Pete Definbaugh and Norman Gifford, Jr. were unopposed in the Democratic primary, while incumbents Rick Impallaria, Pat McDonough and Kathy Szeliga defeated David Seman and Tina Sutherland in the Republican primary. Bowie, Definbaugh, Gifford, Impallaria, McDonough and Szeliga face off for three seats in the general election.[4][5]
