Kelly Schmidt (b. August 26, 1962 in Moorhead, Minnesota) is the 33rd and current Treasurer of North Dakota. A Republican, she was first elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2008 and 2012.

Biography

A native of Nebraska, Schmidt is a 2005 graduate of the National Institute for Public Finance at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.[1]

Political Career

North Dakota Treasurer (2005-Present)

Schmidt was first elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2008 and 2012. In 2011, she was elected President of the National Association of State Treasurers. She has also been recognized as a "Toll Fellow" by the Council on State Governments in 2009 for her work in state government.[2]
