Kirk Dillard is a Republican member of the Illinois State Senate. Dillard has served in the Illinois Senate since 1993. Dillard was re-elected in November of 2008 with his term expiring in 2012. Before becoming a Senator, Dillard was former Chief of Staff to Illnois Governor Jim Edgar. Also, Dillard served as the Legislative Affairs director to long-time Illinois Governor James "Big Jim" Thompson". He is Illinois state chairman for ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council).[1]

Dillard graduated with his Bachelor's degree from Western Illinois in 1977 and his Juris Doctorate degree from DePaul Law in 1982.

Dillard was a Republican candidate for Illinois Governor in the 2010 election.[2] He lost in the primary election.

Dillard won re-election to the Illinois State Senate in District 24 in the 2012 election. Dillard defeated House incumbent Chris Nybo in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012 and defeated A. Ghani (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[5][6][7]
