An effort was launched in February 2011 to recall Johansen from office based on events surrounding a Republican state house caucus meeting in November 2010, at which time Johansen resigned a leadership position in the caucus and walked out.[3]

Johansen won re-election to the 1st District Seat in 2010. He had no opposition in the August 24 primary. He defeated Ottar Mobley in the November 2 general election.[4]
