Kyle Johansen (b. July 13, 1967) is a Republican member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing the 1st District since 2007.

Johansen is the Owner of the Johansen Consulting Company, and previously served as a legislative aide to Representative Bill Williams from 1994-2000. He received his BA in Elementary Education from Washington State University.[1]


Johansen did not provide answers to the 2008 Political Courage Test. The test provides voters with how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[2]

  • HB 35 - "An Act relating to notice and consent for a minor's abortion; relating to penalties for performing an abortion; relating to a judicial bypass procedure for an abortion; relating to coercion of a minor to have an abortion; and relating to reporting of abortions performed on minors."
  • HB 209 - "An Act providing for a surcharge on oil produced in the state and delivered to a state that imposes a tax on fuel delivered to this state."[3]

An effort was launched in February 2011 to recall Johansen from office based on events surrounding a Republican state house caucus meeting in November 2010, at which time Johansen resigned a leadership position in the caucus and walked out.[4]

Johansen won re-election to the 1st District Seat in 2010. He had no opposition in the August 24 primary. He defeated Ottar Mobley in the November 2 general election.[5]
