Larry Larranaga represents legislative district 27 in the New Mexico House of Representatives. He represents part of the state's most populous county, Bernalillo. Mr. Larranaga is a consulting engineer.[1]

Transparency advocacy

In 2007, Larranaga introduced House Bill 554, which attempted to appropriate $500,000 for the state "Department of Finance and Administration to establish a searchable taxpayer transparency web site that provides the public with information about state revenues and expenditures." The website would have also made public the results of annual and special state audits.[2]

This bill was referred to three house committees for consideration, the House Taxation and Revenue Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, and the House Appropriations and Finance Committee. However, the bill was "postponed indefinitely" in the House Taxation and Revenue Committee. It never reached the other two committees for consideration, nor was it ever delivered to the chamber floor for a debate or vote.[3]
