Valencia works as a freelance technical and medical writer. In Richmond, he has served as a member of the Zoning Board of Review from 2002 to January 2012; as a member of the Richmond Economic Development Commission (Chairman from 2007 to 2010); and as Chairman of the Home Rule Charter Commission from 2007 to 2008.
Valencia earned his B.S. from Charter Oak College in 1988 and his M.S. from St. John's University in 1977.
