Weissmann ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing New York's 18th District. He sought the nomination on the Working Families Party ticket. He was unopposed in the primary and faced incumbent Nan Hayworth (R) and Sean Maloney (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2] Maloney won the general election.[1]
